Virtual Reality(VR) Program Development in College
One fine morning a couple of years ago, the dean quietly informed us about the Strong Workforce Program grant given by the state of California, to develop innovative programs in colleges, 'that lead to employment' to the student.
In a sufficiently animated meeting, new-fangled words, "Virtual Reality (VR)", "Augmented Reality (AR)", "Flux Capacitor (FC)" etc were tossed. Over the course of the next few weeks, we decided on extending our Animation and Gaming program into the magical new world of VR.
I was given the reins to lead developing and organizing the program, and that's how today we have the Virtual Reality Designer certificate, a 27 unit course that includes classes in real time assets creation, animation, game engine technologies, virtual reality interactions, design, and storytelling.
